Mint Hill Christmas

  • Can I throw candy from my vehicle?
Please do not throw candy or other items from moving vehicles due to safety concerns.
  • Does Santa read all the letters left at Town Hall?
Every night one of Santa's elves comes down from the North Pole to pick up the letters. Santa typically responds in just a couple of days. Be sure to include your return address so he doesn't get you mixed up with someone on the naughty list.
  • How will people see me in a nighttime parade?
All entries must be lighted. Walking groups are encouraged to wear festive lights, glow sticks, reflective clothing.
  • Will the event be cancelled if it rains?
The Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting will take place on the scheduled date, rain or shine. Santa has a busy schedule in December and we booked his visit several months in advance.
  • My child is in the parade, is there a place where I can drop them off?
Yes, proceed to Bain Elementary and follow the instructions of staff. There will be a drop off area. Make sure someone from your group is there to meet you as you will not be able to park and walk your child to the float.
  • Can our group stop and perform along the route?
No, you will not be able to stop and perform along the route. It's important we keep the parade going at a steady pace.
  • Are pets allowed?
We love our four legged friends, but we kindly ask that you leave them safely at home during Mint Hill Madness. Per the Town ordinance, no pets are allowed within the event area. NOTE: Service animals are always welcome.
  • What food vendors can we expect?
Each event has different food vendors. We rotate throughout the course of the year.
  • Will the event be cancelled in the event of bad weather?
Because an event cannot easily be rescheduled, we typically do not cancel events. In the event of dangerous weather, we will cancel. If there is rain in the forecast, not necessarily.
  • What items are not allowed at Mint Hill events?
For your safety and the safety of others the following items are not permitted: NO Pets (service animals welcomed) NO Alcohol NO Firearms NO Smoking or Vaping NO Bicycles NO Skateboards NO Rollerblades NO Hoverboards
  • What are the event hours?
The Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting will take place on December 3rd in downtown Mint Hill. The Christmas Parade starts at 5:30 pm, followed by the Tree Lighting (aprox. 7:00 pm).
  • Where is the event located?
The Christmas Parade will start at Bain School and travel down Matthews Mint Hill Road to the Mint Hill Library. The Tree Lighting is immediately following at Mint Hill Town Hall.
  • Is there handicap parking?
Yes, people with disabilities may park near Town Hall. Follow police instruction upon arrival. Be sure your handicap place card is visible at all times.
  • Where do I park?
Parking is very limited in the downtown area. Plan on wearing comfortable shoes because you may have to walk.
